Tahiti Day 1.5 (30 March 2018)

I teared up when we stepped off the plane.   You know those moments that you never anticipate will come to fruition?  This was one of them. Holy smokes am I glad to be here sharing this experience with some of my lovelies!  The flight was kind of long, but they gave us a darling white flower (Mom thinks it was a Tahitian gardenia) that smelled like heaven. I tucked it behind my ear, and every time I turned my head, the fragrance wafted in the air.

When we landed, I definitely teared up!  You know that feeling you had when you were a kid and Christmas FINALLY came?!?  That was how I felt as I stepped off the plane.

When we walked in for the Passeport control, there were three people singing and dancing!  It made the experience of standing in line a whole lot more pleasant. Although, the humidity caught up to us, and with compression socks on, I definitely felt like the Wicked Witch of the West after Dorothy threw water on her.

We had our rental car company pick us up (it was just up the hill from the airport) and proceeded to figure out how to load our luggage into our ‘Elf Clio.’  It is a brand new car, that had the luggage capacity of an elf’s car. 😏. But we got most of it to fit in the trunk, with a little on our laps. 😊. There was no GPS in the car, so I asked our guy how to get to our hotel. He gave general directions, and we were off!

International data plans from Verizon don’t work in Tahiti, so there are some steep tariffs charged when you use your phone. However, Alex figured out the address to the hotel and guided us home for the next few days.
