Day 7 - Sasebo (6 April 2019)
Today was another great day. I’ve enjoyed that all of the activities we’ve done have been so different. We started off the day relaxing. We didn’t even leave the house until nearly 11 a.m.

We went to an area that had some Hello Kitty merchandise too! It was a lot of fun to see echos of my earliest memories from when we lived in Japan when I was really young, as well as some things that may have been lost in translation:

On the bottom floor of the store is where one can purchase their groceries. The packaging on the fruit was unique!

And there were loads of interesting things to potentially buy too!

The check out process was different than what I expected. You purchase your groceries, and then take them to a counter to bag up your own purchases. I’m sure it is an efficient system!

We came home to make lunch and relax for an hour or so before the branch activity. The young missionaries put it on, but the whole branch supposed the activity. It was supposed to be playing volleyball, but there was good food and interesting people to talk to, so volleyball was just an excuse to gather together.

We were invited over to Brother and Sister Sasaki’s home for dinner. What a delightful time we had together! She is kind of like a Japanese version of my mom. Her husband didn’t feel very comfortable with English, but she did. We had a wonderful time spending it in each other’s company.

I am pretty sure that my parents are living right, and we are reaping the benefits. We have had fantastic weather and incredible experiences since we arrived. What a grand adevsnture this has been!
We drove to Aeon. My dad called it a mall. I guess that’s a decent description of the store. But it’s kind of more like if the mall and Walmart had a baby, it would be Aeon.
We started looking at the clothes and different styles of clothing. As you continued to walk through the areas, you could buy a suit, or experience some of these things all on the same floor:

After briefly stopping to take pictures of the store ‘Mister Donut,’ we sampled a lot of small drinks on the drive home.

They have a traditional Japanese home, which was beautiful. We ate with chopsticks (I would give myself a B- for effort). Sister Sasaki made a lot of good food! We shared stories and had a wonderful time.
