England Day 16 (30 June 2018)

Liverpool!  Can you believe I got to go to the Beatles’ old stomping grounds!?!  I didn’t realize that Liverpool was such a lovely city!  There was a lot to see and do too. It isn’t hard to imagine Beatles songs floating in the air as you walked through town, and I loved it! I  really enjoyed the experience of seeing the Beatles’ childhood homes. They also wrote extremely relatable songs about their lives and where they lived.  I was impressed to see how they wrote about what they knew and where they lived! We had a lot of fun singing Beatles songs on the bus!  The whole tour was two hours long and it was worth it. It was a lot of fun! After Liverpool, we drove out to Crosby Beach and saw an artist’s 100 statues titled ‘Another Place.’  These statues were anchored to the beach and withstand the tides and all!  They were interesting to see. They were at varying heights, and would’ve been pretty somber if there had not been so many sun chasers hangi...

England Day 15 (29 June 2018)

We started the day bright and early in Haltwhistle. The sun rises early, and I remembered to close my curtains last night so I didn’t wake up at dawn. The farm where we stayed was a fun experience though! We found a pretty fun truck stop on the way down towards Manchester. They had some good buys, and I ended up purchasing a rain coat!  (Too bad there’s no rain to be seen anywhere).   We spent a few hours at Tami’s friend’s house, and it was fabulous!  They’re good people and I feel like I made some new friends.  We then made our way towards Chetham Library, which is the oldest free public library in the UK. It opened in 1653, but the buildings have been there since the 1420’s. Can you imagine?  Before Columbus sailed over to America, these buildings were built. 😯. Books were so valuable that they were chained to the shelves so no one would walk off with them.  Marx and Engels did the research for their Communist Manifesto at the library. Strange connectio...
