England Day 15 (29 June 2018)

We started the day bright and early in Haltwhistle. The sun rises early, and I remembered to close my curtains last night so I didn’t wake up at dawn. The farm where we stayed was a fun experience though!

We found a pretty fun truck stop on the way down towards Manchester. They had some good buys, and I ended up purchasing a rain coat!  (Too bad there’s no rain to be seen anywhere).

We spent a few hours at Tami’s friend’s house, and it was fabulous!  They’re good people and I feel like I made some new friends.

We then made our way towards Chetham Library, which is the oldest free public library in the UK. It opened in 1653, but the buildings have been there since the 1420’s. Can you imagine?  Before Columbus sailed over to America, these buildings were built. 😯. Books were so valuable that they were chained to the shelves so no one would walk off with them.

Marx and Engels did the research for their Communist Manifesto at the library. Strange connection, but it’s a pretty cool place!

We met up with my cute niece and her boyfriend for the evening too!  What a delight to be able to see family! 💕 We went down towards the canal and the lochs for a delightful stroll after dinner.

We had a a good time exploring some great areas in Manchester!  It’s an interesting mix of modern and ancient, posh and gritty. It’s always fun to explore a new city with fantastic people!

Another fun day on this fantastic adventure!
